Last year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of EASL, the Young Investigator Concerted Action Group (YI-CAG) introduced a new yearly award specifically dedicated for young fellows.
Every year, the EASL Governing Board and YI-CAG will select YI awardees based on their international liver research achievements to-date.
Application for the YI Award will be made during the abstract submission process.
Awardees will be acknowledged during General Session 3 at The International Liver Congress™ in Barcelona in front of thousands of liver experts. They will also present their submitted abstract at the corresponding parallel session at the ILC.
Additionally, awardees will receive a cash prize to be handed out in Barcelona. In order to qualify, awardees must be present in Barcelona.
Awardees will also be invited to publish a review in the Journal of Hepatology, provided that:
Note: a minimum of 3 original articles in a journal with an impact factor of 6 or more is required for either first or last author.
Application for the Young Investigator Award is exclusively open to active EASL members, both clinicians, and basic scientists.
EASL aims to support Young Investigators and helps them attend The International Liver Congress™ by providing bursaries to cover travel and accommodation costs. Scientists with an excellent abstract that is accepted for presentation at the meeting will be considered for a grant.
Young Investigators must be under 35 years of age at the time of the Congress and/or still in training. Proof of age and/or training status is mandatory. Please consult the Young Investigators bursary programme to see if you are eligible for funding from EASL.
The application is available to anyone fulfilling the above criteria, without geographical restrictions.
The 200 best scored abstract presenters will be awarded a bursary of EUR 650 each. This bursary will be handed out during the congress. In addition, the registration fees to the congress will be waived and all bursary recipients will receive one-year free EASL membership.
An additional 200 abstract presenters will have their registration fees waived. All bursary recipients will receive one-year free EASL membership.
